Byron Fred Crabill February 23, 1929 - April 6, 2023
Byron F. Crabill, age 94 went to be with his Lord on April 6, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He was born in Fort Wayne Indiana and is preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Elsie Crabill and his younger sister Carol Bower (Bill).
Byron graduated from Purdue University with a BA in Engineering. He then joined the United States Air Force, was stationed in Japan as an Air Traffic Controller, and earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War. During his time at UC, he was the Interfraternity Council President (SIGMA PHI EPSILON), and where he met the love of his life Shirley Shepard. Bryon and Shirley were married for 66 wonderful years.
Bryon was influenced by mid-century design and his architectural focus and passion was seen in the designs of Churches and State Parks, such as the Magee Marsh Nature Center in Northern Ohio. He was an Architectural Judge on the State of Ohio Building Appears Court, and ran his private Architectural firm for over 50 years.
Byron designed and built his family's dream home on Kelley's Island, Ohio, which fostered years of family memories. Bryon and Shirley enjoyed their wonderful retirement years with their many Kelley's Island friends.
Bryon and Shirley enjoyed traveling to California to spend time with their two wonderful grandsons and attending and cheering them on at their baseball games. Bryon was also an avid wood carver, with a special love for carving birds, these carvings are cherished by both family and friends.
Byron is survived by his loving wife Shirley; their sons: Allan Crabill (Maggie) and Ross Crabill (Bill Arbogast); daughters: Lori Gurren (Rodney) and Nancy Story (Tom). Bryon also had two grandsons: Andrew and Matthew Crabill.
He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cincinnati for over 60 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations or contributions be made to a charity of your choice or because of Bryon's love of birds to the National Audubon Society.
