Obituary

Burr "Leroy" Nichols was born on May 23, 1935, to the late Otto and Ollie Nichols. He was the fifth of seven children. He professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age at Bandmill Baptist Church in Earle, Arkansas. In his later years, the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Cincinnati, Ohio welcomed him with open arms to their congregation where he sang in the choir. Leroy began his career in auto parts. Later he became the owner of two service stations. He remained in business until 1974 when he had to sell his businesses because a freeway was being built. Leroy began working at the Jergens Skincare Factory in the 1975 where he worked for 20 years, retiring as supervisor in 1995. Leroy married Joyce Nichols (deceased) in 1978. They became the parents of two children, Keisha and Emmanuel. After retirement Leroy began a new career as an usher for the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Organization for the past 22 years. Leroy loved to bowl. He was a member of many bowling leagues over the years and won numerous trophies in major bowling tournaments across the nation. Leroy also often participated in Bid Whiz tournaments. Burr" Leroy" Nichols departed this life on August 24, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Nichols, brother James Nichols and son Michael. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Vanessa Nichols (Garfield Jones), Brian Nichols, Keisha Nichols and Emmanuel Nichols all of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers: Odie Nichols of Cincinnati, OH; Lawrence (Eloise) Nichols of Michigan City, IN; Johnny Nichols of Cincinnati, OH; and two sisters: Irma Howard of Cleveland, OH and Velma (James) Ferguson of Cleveland, OH. 7 grandchildren: Tyra, Tyler, Paris, Bryan, Taliyah, Isaiah and Madison. 2 great-grandchildren: Carter and Aiden; Special Friend, Gwendolyn Sanders and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
