IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Billye M.

Stevenson

July 9, 1950 – August 14, 2024

Obituary

Billye (Sanders) Stevenson was born on July 9, 1950 to the late Cora Mae and Ben Willie Sanders in Owenton, Kentucky. She was the fourth of five children. She was preceded in death by her brothers Bennie and Johnnie Sanders.

When Billye was a child, she attended Owenton Second Baptist Church. She participated in the youth plays and sang in the choir although she was shy and liked to stand in the back. Billye loved to read even at an early age. She had a thirst for knowledge and always excelled in school.

When Billye was a teenager, she moved to Cincinnati with her family and attended Hughes High School. It was in Cincinnati where she met her husband Ronald Stevenson and started a family.

Billye joined St. James Church pastored by Rev. Martha Williams in 1977. Under the leadership of Pastor Martha Williams, Billye really began to grow and mature in the Lord. She was an enthusiastic minister of the gospel. She visited the sick and people in nursing homes. She organized church vacations and trips. She preached and taught God's Word. She was eventually ordained a minister under the tutelage of Pastor Williams.

Billye was an avid traveler. She traveled with family, friends and fellow church members. She visited most of the states in the US. She traveled the country for her job, but most travel was for vacationing with family and friends.

Billye worked for Convergys corporation for 31 years and held various managerial positions within the company. In her last position at Convergys, she was an Information Systems Director. She was routinely recognized for her outstanding achievements within the company and for her work in various company sponsored community events. She received a "Partners In Excellence" award from the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati.  Although she had many accomplishments at Convergys, Billye was most fulfilled with the work of Christian ministry. Billye retired from Convergys Corporation in 2004 to work full-time in ministry.

Ronald and Billye Stevenson founded New Birth Christian Center in March 2002. Billye was ordained and installed as the Co-Pastor in June 2003. She enthusiastically assisted her husband the Senior Pastor in the various administrative and pastoral functions of the church. She taught, preached, counseled and helped people become their very best in Christ.

Pastor Billye was a spiritual mother to both New Birth members and non-members alike. She demonstrated the compassion and love of Christ. She was an intercessor engaging in spiritual battle on the behalf of others. She may have been short in physical stature, but she was mighty in God to the end.

Pastor Billye went home to be with her heavenly Father on August 14, 2024. She was surrounded by her devoted and loving family.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years, Bishop Ronald Stevenson; Daughters: Laura (Douglass) Baugh, Veronica Stevenson and Ralonda Tooles; Grandchildren: Dina Ballard, Majesty Porche, Zacchaeus Porche and Javontte Reynolds; Sisters: Shirley Frateman and Phyllis (Ronald) Washington; and a host of nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends.
