Billy W. Heard was born April 11, 1939, in Augusta, Georgia to Henry Heard and Mary Chapman. He was one of five children; as a child, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Cincinnati Public Schools graduating from (Old) Woodward High School.

He worked for General Motors and retired from the Sanitation Department of Cincinnati. Billy was a very skilled mechanic, he could fix whatever problem he had with his cars. He was a very lively person. He had a keen sense of humor and could make anyone laugh and smile. He loved going to the movies and listening to music. Along with his lively character, he was a hero. He is remembered for running into a burning building and saving lives. This heroic act earned him an award that is still displayed at City Hall.

He is preceded in death by his parents,  Henry Heard and Mary Chapman; siblings:  Archie, Henry, Louis, and Mary Heard.

He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Billie Ann Heard; sons: Edward and William Heard; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation is from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Walker Event Center, 3939 Reading Road (Corner of Reading and Paddock), Cincinnati  (45229).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. Everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.

In keeping with the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions masks are required in order to enter  the service and social distancing must be practiced.  Please be prepared to comply for the safety of all.
