Obituary

Billie J. Marshall was born on September 1, 1935, in Omar, Logan County, West Virginia, to the late William Hamilton Jones and Dorothy Mae Jones. She entered the world alongside her identical twin sister, Bobbie, who preceded her in death, with whom she shared an extraordinary and lifelong bond.

Billie attended Aracoma High School in Logan, West Virginia, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming Queen. She graduated in 1953 and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration. Billie also modeled for Marvin Gentry and held a position as a bookkeeper and typist at the Manse Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was there she crossed paths with the legendary James Brown, whose friendship led her to travel as his guest—an experience that reflected her adventurous spirit.

She pursued her passion for nursing and graduated from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Billie served as a psychiatric nurse at Longview State Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, where her compassion and dedication touched many lives.

Billie married Stanley Burdette Marshall, and together they welcomed a son, William Burdette Marshall, and a daughter, Vickie Marie Marshall—both of whom preceded her in death. Later, she remarried Louis Curtis Stallworth, and they were blessed with a daughter, Sonya Stallworth.

Her professional career included many years at Shillito's and a distinguished 30-years of service at Lazarus Federated Department Store in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Billie was known for her radiant smile and kind hearts; she never met a stranger. She loved her children deeply and ensured they never went without. Later in life, she met the love of her life, Carlos A. Cromwell, who also preceded her in death.

She was a gifted cook and an exceptional baker. A woman of elegance and flair, Billie adored high fashion and carried herself with style and grace. She enjoyed casino trips, traveling, music, and the theatre. Jazz was her favorite music, and she loved to dance. Her sense of humor was unmatched—she always kept you laughing.
