Betty Jean Shannon was born March 30, 1947, to the late Thomas and Inez Prosser in Georgetown.
She graduated from Georgetown High School and later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to spread her wings, bringing along a strong family moral values and ethics that she learned from her parents.
She later met and married her late husband John R. Shannon together they started a blended family. Betty went on to pursue her passion in the nursing field, she retired form Mt. Notre Dame Health Care. After retirement she enjoyed sitting on her porch, watching baseball, and relaxing.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Inez Prosser, husband: John R. Shannon; one stepson: Kenny Shannon; step-granddaughter Keonna Smith; two brothers: Donald and Clarence Prosser; two sisters: Hattie Barrett and Shirley Prosser; one great-granddaughter Zamorah Sanders.
She leaves to cherish her memories her three sons: Anthony Prosser, Andre Shannon, Rasche Shannon, one stepson: Robert Shannon; two sister's: Patricia Lewis and Donna Prosser; three daughters-in-laws: Stephanie Shannon, Katherine Prosser and Tanesha Shannon; two step-daughter Eva, and Angela Shannon; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of family and friends.
Visitation is from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the New St. Paul Baptist Church1907 Freeman Ave, Cincinnati, OH (45214). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 pm. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
