IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Louise
Robinson Potts
August 10, 1939 – May 17, 2013
Betty Louise Robinson Potts, age 73, passed away May 17, 2013 in Springfield, Missouri. Born August 10, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the first of eight children born to Charles Robinson and Lenora Harper Robinson. After graduation from Lockland Wayne High School in Lincoln Heights, she attended Central State University to pursue a Degree in Education. Betty was a Pre-School Teacher and she was loved by her children. During her college life she met and married James Wooten, to this union Melesha and Todd were born. Betty's love for her asthmatic children lead her to stay home with them so that she could care for them as a loving mother would. Sister Potts's decided that her ministry of care giving would translate to a career as a caregiver to many elderly clients and their families. She professed a love for the Lord at an early age. As her life progressed, she accepted her calling to minister the word of God and share the love of Christ to many people. To this day, we remember Betty and her mother Lenora dragging all the kids to prayer bands all over Cincinnati. Betty soon met and married Coleman Potts J r. and to this union Christopher Potts was born. Coleman, Betty and the children moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. While in New Mexico, Betty became an ordained minister. Later, they moved back to Cincinnati where she was able to help care for her mother during her illness. Betty was so happy to have spent those last years at her mother's side. In 2004, Betty moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Springfield, Missouri, where she soon united with Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Betty had a deep love for the Lord and the word of God. Her dedication lead her to devote countless hours to study, fasting and prayer. She was a Sunday school teacher and faithfully attended both Sunday and mid-week services. She had a great love for people and always had an encouraging word to help uplift their spirits. As the songwriter says, 'You Can't Beat God Giving' and she exemplified this as she cheerfully gave of her earthly possessions. Betty was known for her sense of fashion and style. She enjoyed dressing for any occasion and always wanted to look her best. She instilled this in all of her siblings, children and grandchildren. She will be one of the best- dressed angels in Heaven. Betty's sisters and brother were like her children and she always looked out for them like a mother. Her happiest times were when her whole family was together. She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her home going; her father Charles Robinson, her three children; Melesha Bailey (Amos), Todd Wooten (Yasheika) and Christopher Potts (jamilah Nugent); sisters and brothers; Barbara Owens, Herbert Robinson (Ernestine), Derrick Robinson, Derrita Robinson, Dwan Lee and Denise Robinson. Eight grandchildren; Tamara Wooten, Tyler Bailey, T aria Wooten, Tierra Wooten, Keiara Cottingham, Todd Wooten Jr., Christopher Potts, Jr. and Kriscia Potts; great-grandchild, Todd Wooten III.; niece, Nikki Robinson Jackson (Vincent), a nephew, Anthony Lee, Jr.; great- nephew, Justin Jackson, a great-niece, Jada Jackson. Her lifelong friends, 'The Golden Girls' and a host of extended family and friends who loved her so much, words cannot express.
