On Thursday, November 25, 2021, Betty Jean Upshaw departed this life and returned home. She was with her granddaughter who loved her dearly.

Betty Jean was the daughter of Albert Fail, Sr. and Ruby Battle Fail both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Albert Fail, Jr. and Richard Fail; sister Juanita Jones; husband John Upshaw, Jr.; and her only son Kevin Fail. Their legacies lived on through Betty, now their legacies will live on through the family.

Betty was born on April 15, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio where she grew up with her six brothers and sisters: Albert Fail, Jr., Barbara Faulk, Juanita Jones, Phyllis Fail, Richard Fail, and Ernie Fail. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her son Kevin had two children: Sasha Evans and Kayla Campbell, who gave her six great-grandchildren. Betty was very close to her brothers and sisters and they loved to have fun together. They always made sure that they kept and each other close.

Betty was one of the hardest workers there ever was. She worked at Whiteway Light Company for 40+ years. Outside of work, she loves to cook. Anyone was welcome to her home. You always knew that you could go over there anytime to get a plate with a nice cold Pepsi. If you had a sweet tooth, she had every piece of candy to help cure it. Bringing people together was what she loved to do. She was the social butterfly of the family.

Betty never judge anyone and never complained. She had a heart of gold and live her life with love.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Mt. Healthy  (45231).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
