Bessie Lee Jenkins was born June 4, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Berry and Elizabeth Patterson. She departed this earthly life on October 29, 2013. Bessie attended Woodward High School. She met and married her childhood sweetheart, Edward Crawford. She gave birth to her son Edward and then came along his baby sister, Phyllis. After she started her family, she started working at Frisch's. She worked there many years as a cook. Later she went to work at Quality Inn as a chef. While in this position, she trained many cooks. The management and customers just loved her. She had her special customers that would come just to eat her cooking. As time went on, she had a sandwich named after her. She worked there until her health began to decline. Bessie was a lover of animals. Over the years, she had numerous pets from: cats, dogs, birds and fish. There was nothing for her to care for a stray cat or dog. She loved to read; on her off days you could find her with her nose in a good book or detective magazine. Bessie leaves to cherish her memory: Children: Edward and Phyllis (Gregory); Grandchildren: Gretchen (Michael), Dionne (Michael), Angela (Jeffrey), Raceine, and Kevin; Great-Grandchilden: Kevin, Nicole, Destiny, Devin, Nia, Jenji, Michelle, Diamond, Edward, Michael, Jabari and Autumn. She was preceded in death by her parents: Berry and Elizabeth, granddaughter: Jasmine and great-grandson: Dion. She leaves behind a host of cousins, other relatives and devoted friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 4 at Walker Funeral Home, 1025 E.
