Bessie P. Allen passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Born to the late Mary Ray and the late Robert Floyd Ricks on March 19, 1935, in Leighton, Alabama, she accepted Christ at an early age of eleven years old at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active church member and participated in the Junior Choir. She attended Leighton Training School and graduated in 1955. Shortly after graduation, Bessie moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to live with the late Edna Hall. In 1957, she met and married the late David B. Allen and from that union one child was born, Deborah Ann Allen Gentry. She was the apple of her eye. Bessie leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Deborah Ann Allen Gentry, two sisters, Elizabeth Ray of Leighton, Alabama and Francis (Timothy) Vinson of Chicago, Illinois, two great-aunts, Emma King of Leighton, Alabama and Vannie Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio, brothers-in-law, Terry Allen, Robert (Florence) Allen, Benny (Helen) Allen and Thomas Freeman, countless nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. Funeral Services at 12 noon, Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Southern Baptist Church, 3556 Reading Road in Cincinnati (4522) with Rev. C. Edwards Dennis, I, Officiating.
