Obituary

Bertha Lee Thomas, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend passed away on May 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and joyful memories.  She was the daughter of Eddie Bronson and Edna (Sloan) Bronson.  Her siblings included Robert, Ralph, Edna, Joanne (deceased), Butch (deceased), Eddie (deceased) and Aaron (deceased).  She was the loving wife of John Tony Thomas (deceased).

Birdie lived to fish - literally!  Whether it was a serene lakeside afternoon or a weekend camping trip outfitted with cozy heated blankets, fancy tents, hot plates and fishing poles, she found joy in bringing her family together in nature.  Bertha excelled professionally as a top performing real estate agent, earning recognition of her achievements.  A woman of many talents, she also served her community as a seamstress, known for her skilled hands and generous heart.  Later, she mastered the art of tax preparation.  Of all her roles, the one she cherished most was that of a mother and caregiver.  She raised three children and played a significant role in the lives of her grandchildren.  Her hands were rarely idle - when not gardening, she was crocheting, sewing or quilting.  Her handcrafted afghans and custom quilts now warm the hearts and homes of her grandchildren, treasured pieces of her enduring love.

Birdie is survived by her daughter, Vicki Thomas; her son, John Thomas; her granddaughter, Laurel Lattimore (Kenwood); several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews;  her brothers, Robert and Ralph will miss her dearly.  We can all rest assured that she no longer has to miss her beloved daughter and best friend, Toni.  They are now reunited, undoubtedly catching up and casting lines in eternal peace.  Her grandson, Emmanuel is also welcoming her home.  Birdie's vibrant spirit, steady love and giving heart will be remembered always.

Friends and family can visit with the family at St. Paul Village, 5515 Madison Road, (45227) on Saturday, June 28, 2025.  Her memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm.
