BERNICE LONG SALDO was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, November 14, 1926. She was the oldest child of Robert F. Long, Sr. and Hettie Broadnax Long. She departed this life on Friday January 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Robert F. Long, Jr. Her mother and uncle Percy Broadnax were among the founding members of the First Church of God in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1916. The Church recently celebrated its 100th Anniversary where her mother, uncle and other founding members were honored. At her death, Bernice was the oldest surviving member of the Broadnax Family. She graduated from "Old" Woodward High School in 1945. She then moved to New York City where she worked for years in the clothing manufacturing business. She was a lover of "cats" which she cared for and raised many generations of them. She returned to Cincinnati in 2006 with her cats and fabulous wardrobe which she accumulated while living in New York. She rejoined and reconnected with the First Church of God when she returned to Cincinnati. She leaves to mourn her passing, but to cherish her loving memory: two sisters Joyce Long Harrison and Jacqueline Long Lindsey both of Cincinnati; one niece Karen Lindsey and one nephew, Donald Lindsey, Jr.; two great nieces, Monika Lamb and Jennifer Lamb; one great, great nephew, Jayden Lamb and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at the Walker- Walnut Hills Chapel, 1025 E. McMillan Street Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
