Obituary

Beatrice Harris, was born on October 30, 1913 in Carthage, Arkansas to Obie and Burda Lou Thomas. Beatrice accepted Christ as her personal Lord and savior and was water baptized as a teenager and shepherded by Pastor Sam Patilo of Carthage Church of God in Christ. Beatrice wedded Mr. Calvin Harris in Carthage, Arkansas on February 25, 1929. Later they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and upon arriving they united with Rescue Temple Church of God in Christ and Beatrice served in the capacity of Deaconess alongside her husband, Deacon Calvin Harris. Later Beatrice joined New Community Church of God in Christ under the Pastoral leadership of the late Bishop William Morgan James where she faithfully served on the Pastor's Aide auxiliary and on the Deaconess Board assisting Mother Carrie Simmons, who was a close friend and colleague in serving the church's Holy Ordinances. Beatrice's professional path led her as a worker for Stanley High Funeral Home of Cincinnati, Ohio Beatrice's decorum, style and dress were impeccable and she always carried herself as a woman projecting an image of loveliness. She loved people and was always found giving generously and meeting the needs of others. She enjoyed ministering in private and intimate ways for she understood what you do for others in secret the Lord rewards you openly. Her favorite scripture quoted was Psalms 23 for the Lord was her shepherd who always prepared a table before her in the presence of her enemies and her favorite praise song was "All That I Need Is In Jesus" Beatrice loved beautiful surroundings and it was through her devotion and planning that she helped in the Interior Decorations of Bishop James church office, his Parish on Beecher Avenue and the floral decorations of the new edifice at 1116 Lincoln Avenue. Beatrice recently achieved the status Centenarian for a 100 years of outstanding service to her church at the Cincinnati community at large. Beatrice's husband of 62 years and her Father, Mother, two sister, two brothers and her nephew Roland preceded her in death. Beatrice leaves to mourn her nieces, Fay Alexander, Patricia Andrews, three nephews, cousins, friends and especially her church family Turning Point Ministries Pentecostal Church.
