Barbara P. Thomas was born on August 12, 1938, to the late Will O. Watkins Sr. and Christine (Bure) Watkins. Barbara was raised in Cumminsville, the third of ten children; in which five siblings, James Turner, Roy Lee Turner, Ronald Watkins, Cora Thomas and Richard Watkins all preceded her in death. Barbara was a long-standing member of Miracle Deliverance Worship Center, where she served faithfully until her death. Barbara went to Sherman High School. In 1966, she married William Thomas. She worked various jobs. The last place of employment was Garden Hill Nursing Home, as an Environmental Tech. Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. Family meant everything to her. Barbara was the mother of nine children; five sons, Theodore, Ronald, Paul, Micheal and Willie; and her four daughters, Yvonne, Lisa, Trenea and Antionette. Barbara was blessed with a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest achievement was caring for her family. She opened her home up to anyone who needed shelter and nourishment. She was a steadfast and tenaciously driven soldier in God's Army. Her faith in the Lord was everything to her. On March 22, 2018, Barbara was called to rest. She was preceded in death by her children, Ronald, Micheal, Willie and Lisa. She leaves to cherish her memory; two sons, Theodore Watkins and Paul Watkins (Molly); three daughters, Yvonne Watkins, Trenea Watkins-Tolbert (Marcus) and Antionette Lee (Diondre); four siblings, Will Watkins Sr. (Yvonne), Patsy Ervin (John Jr.), Michael Watkins and Benjamin Watkins (Inita); 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Visitation is from 8:30 am until 9:30 am, on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 1025 E. McMillan, (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 9:30 am Interment will follow Vine Street Hill Cemetery.
