Barbara Jean Pierce, also known as Barb, beloved daughter of Edward and Louise Pierce, whom preceded her in death was born in Orville, Alabama on October 28, 1945 and came to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 7. Barbara was a graduate of Withrow High School in 1963, and continued on to the University of Cincinnati for her Master's degree. Barbara departed this life early Thursday morning, October 23, 2014. She was previously a GE employee, a retired teacher, and counselor for Cincinnati Public Schools. She loved children and after she had retired from the school system, she continued to work with children at summer day camps, and counseled many more of all ages. She was heavily involved in politics, and enjoyed people, traveling, family, gatherings and dancing. She was an active member of Union Baptist Church as an usher and working on the trustee board. She was an advocate for breast cancer awareness and participated in the yearly 6 mile walk. Barbara leaves to mourn seven aunts, and one uncle, Mattie Clark of Orville, AL, Idella Young of Dayton, OH, Eloise Hunter, Rochester, NY, Juanita Sanders of St. Louis, MO, Rosie Carter of Birmingham, AL, Lillie Mae Hunter of Orville, AL, Inell Dean (James) of Cincinnati, OH, and a longtime family friend, John McDaniel, and a host of cousins and friends.
