Jones

Barbara Jean (nee Timberlake) Jones was born on July 21, 1944 in Washington DC to her mother Westine (nee Timberlake) Forney. She graduated from Wilson Sr. High School in Washington DC. Her Grandmother Alto Coast and her Aunt Edith Chase who both preceded her in death loved Barbara dearly. She did not have any siblings, but was very close to her cousin Thomas Timberlake and his son Darren Florence who also preceded her in death. Barbara was a woman who loved her family, her children and grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy the importance of family.
Barbara loved music and dancing. She would tell stories of how she and her cousins Carolyn, Costella, and Raymond Jr. would go and see shows at the Howard Theatre. She met her late husband Willie Jones during one of those times at the Howard Theatre. Barbara and Willie joined in holy matrimony, June of 1965. Willie and Barbara moved from Washington DC to Atlanta GA where they begin to build a life together. Later Willie and Barbara moved from Atlanta GA to Cincinnati OH, where they shared 43 beautiful years until his passing. Barbara held various jobs. Her leadership qualities allowed her to be in the position of management with all of the jobs she held. She was tax representative with H&R Block. She worked at Bucheim bakery where she managed their operations and mastered cake making.
Barbara would make a variety cakes regardless of the occasion for the families of Ridge Acres. Barbara was a seamstress who enjoyed sewing and making her own clothes, she would make clothes for her children and grandchildren. She made her own rendition of JAM shorts, which became very popular in the neighborhood.
Before entering retirement, Barbara was a supervisor at Old Time Pottery, where she stayed until she retired.
Barbara leaves her five children to cherish her memory George Timberlake, Shirley Price, Lisa Jones, Sean (LaShawna) Jones, and Rory Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Jones, her daughter Celestine Brown, her sons David Price, Anthony Jones, Timothy Jones Sr. and her granddaughter Brandi Fields. She leaves behind 26 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and host
other of family and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue , Mt. Healthy (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.
She will be laid to rest at Landmark Memorial Gardens, 1600 Glendale Milford Road, 45215.
