From Patrol Officer to Lieutenant of Police at the University of Cincinnati Augusta Norman, a beautiful and loving daughter given by the Lord to Annie Robertson went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2013. In the days prior to her passing she had expressed to her family members and friends her strong faith and desire to be with the Lord. She will best be remembered for her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, contagious laugh, an entertaining sense of humor and her love of reading – of biographies, mysteries and the Bible. Augusta, known to her friends and family as "Gussie" was born on April 2, 1942 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the oldest of 6 beautiful and strong willed girls and 3 handsome and intelligent boys. Gussie graduated from Hughes High School and earned a degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. A single mother of 4 boys and 3 girls, she started her career as a Patrol Officer at the University of Cincinnati and 24 years later retired as the Lieutenant of Police. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. On Saturday October 19th we will celebrate and rejoice in the knowledge that she has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever at home with the Savior she faithfully served for nearly 70 years, A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19 at GREATER EMANUEL APOSTOLIC TEMPLE, 1150 West Galbraith Road, Cincinnati (45231).
