Apostle Alexander McEntire Jr. November 15, 1946 - December 25, 2022
Apostle Alexander McEntire Jr. was the eldest of seven born November 15, 1946, in Tryon, North Carolina to Alexander Sr & Etta Lucille McEntire. On Christmas day he departed this earth to go be present with the Lord. Alexander accepted Christ at an early age.
Alexander graduated from Woodward High School and later served in the United States Airforce, where he was stationed in England for several years. He retired in 1986 from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service. Shortly after in 1988, God called him to preach the Gospel and was ordained at Greater Liberty Baptist Church. He served as Associate Pastor with Pastor Walter Buckner.
In 1993 he earned a B.A. degree from Temple Bible College and was granted an honorary doctorate from Saint Thomas College, in Jacksonville, FL in 2010, and was installed as pastor of the Kirby Road Church in the Northside Community where he served for five years prior to establishing Word Alive Christian Fellowship where pastored for 22/1/2 years. He was actively involved in community affairs and has served as a helper of people in various positions including president of CAIN (Churches Active in Northside) and member of the Board of Directors of the Northside Kiwanis, Boy Scouts executive, Dan Beard Council, and oversaw Safe Pathways a program to keep children safe going to and from school.
Dr. Alexander had a zeal and passion for the Lord that was reflected in his everyday walk. He was a humble man with a heart for lost souls and compassion for hurting hearts. He and his wife Jean were called to restore the lost to Christ, rebuild broken lives, renew minds in the Body of Christ, develop leaders and equip saints for their kingdom assignments.
Apostle Alexander and his wife Jean are ordained apostles and members of the network of churches of Christian International, since 2007, under the leadership of Dr. Bill Hamon, Bishop, and the oversight of Apostle M. Leon Walters.
Pastor Alexander served as the Apostle giving apostolic oversight to 17 Apostolic Ministers. He also provided apostolic/prophetic training for the elders and Word Alive Christian Fellowship members. In 2016, he established Word Alive Church of Uganda, under the leadership of Apostle Robert Achwera. Apostle Robert created three other churches under his apostolic covering in Uganda. In addition to overseeing churches and ministries, he and his wife, Jean are the sponsors of Partners in Education. A ministry that provides tuition, uniforms, and lunches for children in Uganda. Alexander and his wife supports the Community Hope Center in Kenya, Africa under the leadership of Lucy Gacheru.
Preceding Alexander in death was his parents, Alexander Sr. & Etta Lucille McEntire, and brothers Joseph & Richard McEntire. He leaves to mourn his death, his beloved wife of 22yrs, Dr. H. Jean McEntire, and his children, Alexander III(Shante) McEntire, Tonya (JL) Skinner, Lyndon (Lisa) Marshall, Tangie (Fred)Lewis, and Julia Marshall. Grandchildren, Courtney McEntire-Wilder, Sydney Arrington, Alexis McEntire, Donavan McEntire, Cristian Marshall, Gordon Marshall, Lennox Marshall, K. Faith Lewis, and the great-grandfather of Aria Arrington. Five siblings, Janice McEntire-Gibson, Marie McEntire, David (Alicia) McEntire, Kevin McEntire, and Alexander (Gertrude) Whiteside. A special niece Teresa (Vincent) Hardin, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, church members, and friends. He will be dearly missed and will forever remain in our hearts. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives he's touched.
Visitation is from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the New Life Temple Church, 4836 Ward Street, Cincinnati (45227). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 10:30 am.
Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
