Anthony (Tony) Roland Sr. was born on January 23, 1953, and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the beloved son of the late George Roland Sr. and Charlene Turner Roland. He grew up in a large, lively family as one of five boys and nine girls, for a total of fourteen children. This family bond shaped him deeply throughout his life.

Tony was a proud graduate of Robert A. Taft Senior High School. On August 8, 1972, he entered the United States Marine Corps and faithfully served his country until receiving an Honorable Discharge on May 30, 1974. During his military service, Tony was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

Tony went on to build a remarkable career, working at General Hospital and later at the University of Cincinnati for more than thirty years. He was respected by his coworkers and patients alike for his strong work ethic and dedication.

Tony was an all around good guy who will be remembered for his love of playing cards, pool, and chess, and his easy laugh. Tony loved to debate about anything and everything! He will also be remembered for his devotion to his family and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, George Roland Sr. and Charlene Turner Roland; his loving wife, Melissa Ann Grant Roland; his only son, Master Sergeant Anthony TJ" Roland Jr.; his sister, Shelia (Roland) Johnson; his brother in law, James Rudy Freeman Sr.; and his nephews, Steven Derden Jr., William Roland, and Eric Turner.

Tony leaves to cherish his memory his stepdaughters, Latrice Grant and Qiana Buck; four grandchildren, Gianni Roland, Briana Roland, Adriana Bermudez, and Donovan Roland; twelve siblings, Edward Turner, Rozslyn Freeman, Gregory Turner, Patricia Hudson (Donald), Georgetta Johnson (Juel), Marion D. Roland, Marvel Murrell, John Roland (Karen), Jacqueline Roland, Terral Cox (Marvin), Inez Derden, and George Roland Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati (45206). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.

Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
