Anthony David Thompson, 62, also known and loved by many as "Anky or Tony" transitioned Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 at his home, to accept God's reassignment following a long battle with cancer. Anthony was born June 28th, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Nemon and Irene Thompson, as the fourth eldest child. As an adolescent, he attended Courter Technical High School, successfully achieving his diploma and obtaining various certifications and technical degrees while enlisted in the US Army. The discipline and patriotism Anthony learned and exhibited in the US Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. Over the last twenty years, he maintained employment as tractor-trailer operator for the United States Postal Service with retirement in 2016. He was an avid bowler and fishing enthusiast, member of Elisha Lodge#106 and APWU Local#7038. He also enjoyed watching movies, basketball and football games and was a fan of Green Bay Packers. Along with watching or participating in various sports, Anthony demonstrated an undeniable devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren, as well as family and friends. In 2015 he rededicated himself as a member of First Baptist Church of Hartwell. Anthony is survived by his wife, Diane Thompson, two daughters, Danika Gamble (Thompson) and LaShonda Owens (Thompson), and son, Ryan Thompson; six grandchildren, Keiondre Goodwin, Kesean and Christopher Gamble, Donovan and Justin Owens, and sole granddaughter, Ryan Alexandria Thompson Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nemon and Irene Thompson, and his brothers, Nemon Jr., Jerry Thompson, Donald Thompson, and Ronald Thompson.
