Obituary

Ann Gilbert passed away March 7, 2014. The life journey of Ann Carol Gilbert began on the first day she had taken her first breath at General Hospital on June 25, 1939. She was the middle child of three siblings to the late Viana and Charles Gilbert. Sonya Walker preceded her sister Ann in the heavenly kingdom, Betty Evans is the remaining sibling who is currently residing in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ann (better known as Jacky) attended Stowe School and fondly remembered going to the local candy stores and to the movie theaters as a child. Ann had many family and friends that loved her dearly. She always had an encouraging word to say, gave great advice, and was very caring. No matter how difficult times were; she had never given up. She continued to weather through the storm. Jacky was very intelligent and decided to go back to school later in life, and earned an Associate Degree in Early Education. She worked as a head teacher at a daycare center for many years. She was very interested in her children's education as well. She would attend every PTA meeting, open house, and conference any of her children would have. Ann avidly believed in helping people and was a home health aide for many years. She loved children and enjoyed being in all of her many grandchildren's presence. She was a faithful Christian who loved the LORD with all her heart. Her hobbies included watching horror movies with the children and scaring them. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, listening to music and doing crossword puzzles. Jacky was also known for her good ole fried chicken and pork chops. Jacky was known for her kindness. You could say she was the extended mother to everyone. She would feed, clothed and listen to anyone in need. Jacky never made anyone feel unwanted or unloved. She also was a talented artist. Everyone marveled at her beautiful artwork, and complimented her lovely designs. Ann leaves her children to cherish her memories: John Gilbert, Ellery, Gary, Deanna, Keith, Kevin, Craig, Chris Walker, and Tinisha Gilbert. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and sons and daughters-in-law, and friends. God had seen she had suffered enough and it was time for her to join him in the Heavenly Kingdom, so on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 7:36 p.m. she was called home. It was an end to the suffering, an end to the pain, and finally Ann could be at peace. Thank God for Heartland of Hospice who did a wonderful job of making Jacky comfortable her last three days of life. Condolences may be made to the Gilbert family at www.HerbWalker.com.
