Andrew Willis Brookins Sr., (passionately known as AW, Double, DUB, Andy) was born October 20, 1937 to the union of Joseph and Tommie Lee Brookins in Bremen, Georgia; where he lived his early years with his immediate and extended family. In 1949, along with his beloved mother, sister and brother, Andrew left Georgia and moved to Glendale, Ohio. In Glendale Andrew attend and graduated from Glendale High School in 1956, married Alfreda Davis in 1958, and bought a home in Woodlawn, Ohio in 1962. The home in Woodlawn was the residing place for them and their 5 children (Alandi (Brookins) Hill, Karen Brookins, Andrew Brookins Jr., Kimberly (Brookins) Stewart and Anthony Brookins for many years. Andrew worked for Stearns and Foster and Rainbow Bread, before his gift for gab landed him a career in sales. Sales was where Andrew found his greatest success. Andrew accepted a position with AAA Automobile Club where he was an award winning top salesman for all the years. Andrew also went on to take many classes at the University of Cincinnati where he was able to enhance his knowledge, skills and abilities. After many years with the Automobile Club, Andrew opened The Brookins Insurance Agency in Woodlawn, Ohio where he expanded in the insurance industry and became an independent Insurance Agent. Andrew was a man of faith that worshipped with Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Glendale, Ohio until his passing. At Mount Zion he sang in the male choir, drove the Sunday school bus and, was on the trustee member board. Andrew was also a very well know member of his communities. He was a first generation member of the Buccaneer's Motor Cycle Club, a community advocate in Woodlawn, Ohio and in his final years served as VP of Baldwin Grove Counsel and a member of the Baldwin Grove Courtyard Seniors. After a few years of declining health, Andrew made his transition to be with the lord on July 24, 2016. He is already greatly missed. Preceding him in death was his father Joseph Brookins, his brother Warren Brookins Sr., his daughters Kimberly Stewart, and Alandi Hill. Andrew is survived his wife Alfreda Brookins, a sister Betty Williams, and his mother Tommie Lee Qualls, 3 Children Karen Brookins, Andrew Brookins Jr., Anthony Brookins, 5 nieces and nephews 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends. Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 40 Coral Avenue, Glendale (45246).
