Alonzo Brown was born on October 13, 1930, and peacefully transitioned on June 5, 2026, going home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Alonzo was born to the union of the late Moses and Bessie Brown in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born alongside his twin brother, Alphonzo. At a very young age, Alonzo accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

Alonzo was united in Holy Matrimony to Vera. To this union, one daughter, Monifa (Monica). Throughout his lifetime, Alonzo resided in several states, including Mississippi, Ohio, California, and Texas. After relocating to Cincinnati, Ohio, in the 60’s by way of his uncle Major (Leo) and Louise Williams. He became a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where he worshipped until the church closed. Following its closure, he joined Allen Temple AME Church under the leadership of Reverend Alphonse Allen. Even after relocating to Plano, Texas, Alonzo remained a devoted member, and the church family continued to stay connected with him through the years.

Alonzo was educated in the Laurel City School System and graduated from Oak Park High School. He later proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, Alonzo began a distinguished career with American Airlines (formerly TWA), retiring after more than 40 years of dedicated service. Alonzo spent much of his life in San Francisco, California, where he enjoyed creating cherished memories with his daughter, Monifa, son-in-law, Chuck, granddaughter Xavier, and his beloved great-grandchildren.

Alonzo spent his final years in Plano, Texas, where he was lovingly cared for by his devoted nephew, Aundra. During this season of life, he was also embraced by his second family at Harbor Chase Assisted Living. Alonzo became a bright light to residents and staff alike. His warm smile, positive attitude, kind spirit, and laughter brought joy to those around him each day. The Harbor Chase community truly became an extension of his family, and he held a special place in their hearts.

Alonzo leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: his brother, Robert Earl Brown; sister-in-law, Lettie Brown; brother-in-law, Fred Brayboy; and his nephew, Aundra, along with family members Debra, Ayanna, Gianni, Jaxson, Ahlani, Samiah, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Alonzo was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Bessie Brown; his beloved wife,; his daughter, Monifa; three brothers, Alphonzo (his twin), Lauren (Katherine), and Ruben (Earlene); and three sisters, Mattie, Francis (Alton), and Naomi. Alonzo’s legacy of faith, dedication, resilience, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy, 7272 Hamilton Avenue, Mt. Healthy (45231). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 11:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
