William Grady Dixon

May 20, 1931 ~ October 14, 2018 (age 87) 87 Years Old

William Dixon Obituary

William Grady Dixon was born to Nellie and Edward Dixon on May 20th 1931. He went home to our Lord and Savior on Sunday October 14, 2018 peacefully while at home. He was one of eight siblings: J.D. Dixon, Clarence Dixon, Malvenia Dixon, Eddie Mae Woods, Willie Cobb, Inez Cobb and James Cobb. Grady graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio after which he joined the military via the Air Force honorably severing the Air Force from 1949 to 1953. After serving in the military he continued to serve the government by working for the Defense Electronic Supply Center and finally for Wright Patterson Air Force in Dayton, Ohio and retired in 1985 after thirty years of service.  While working Grady was able to fulfill a long time goal when he graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1972 Grady moved his family from Hamilton to Forest Park.

 

Grady enjoyed building and flying radio controlled air planes in his spare time. He enjoyed sharing this passion with his grand children by taking them to field to fly along with him. He enjoyed riding around with his cousin Arthur Thomas to visit his friends in the nursing homes. He also, enjoyed spending time with family and sharing his wisdom at every opportunity.

Grady was preceded in death by parents: Nellie “Cobb” Dixon, Edward Dixon and Mary “Slaughter” Dixon, siblings: J.D. Dixon, Clarence Dixon, Eddie Mae Dixon, and son: Darryle Dixon (Wendy Dixon), (Michelle Dixon (Marlon).

Grady has gone home to be with the Lord leaving behind: his loving wife of 64 years, Rose B. Dixon, children; Grady Dixon, Marlon Dixon, Dana Harding, Terevina Young (Tim Young), Quenna Quarrles, Edward Dixon, Jackie Moon, Tara Dixon and Kristin Dixon.  Grand children: Tiana (), Whitney Dixon, Marcus Dixon, Chieton (Antwan), Sha Rhonda (Brian), Perrine, Maya, Krystal, Jasmin, Edward Jr., Jackson, Jeffrey (Kathy), Atiya, Eric, Tiara, Khaya, Kioni, Kumani and seventeen great grandchildren.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Israel Baptist Church -  Hamilton, 701 S 7th Street, Hamilton  (45011).   The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
