Shawn Hope Obituary

Shawn Christopher Hope aka “Riff” was born October 15, 1979 to Theresa Little and Gregory Hope in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Shawn was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but also lived in Los Angeles, California for a short period of time with his parents. As a child, Shawn was always happy and full of smiles and laughter. He had a peaceful nature which extended into his adult life.  He was a selfless individual who considered others first, even as a young boy. As Shawn grew up, he participated in boy scouts, enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and learning karate.  He enjoyed dancing and probably was the first kid to perfect the moonwalk, winning a moonwalk contest at a birthday party. He also enjoyed watching boxing.

At a young age, Shawn committed his life to Christ; he attended New Life Temple Church and Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship. Shawn attended Withrow High school and later attended Cincinnati State where he received his high school diploma and completed several hours of college credits.  Shawn desired to go to college to gain a degree; but chose the workforce as his priority in order to take care of his family. Shawn spent his career working in the construction, manufacturing and also in distribution.

In Shawn’s leisure time, he LOVED to spend quality time with his kids and his family.  He enjoyed playing dominoes and collecting all name brand tennis shoes.  He enjoyed spending time with his cousins and friends.  Shawn was a faithful and trusted friend; and considered a brother by his close friends. He was laid back and didn’t like confrontation. Shawn was always considerate and respectful and carried himself with dignity and honesty.  Although an only child, he was all about family and considered by many as a brother and son.

Shawn was called home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2019.  Shawn is survived by his mother, Theresa Little; father, Gregory Hope; stepfather, Philip Little; stepmother, Talecha Willis; grandmother, Betty Saunders; grandfather, Jerry Wright (preceded by death); grandfather, Michael Saunders; Mahogany Anthony (companion); his children, Deasia Ware, Jayla Hope, Shawn Hope Jr., Lanea Hope, Maurice Lattimore, Keymah Hope and Carde Hope.  He is also survived by stepbrothers and a stepsister; 3 uncles, Steven Wright, William Wright and Dwayne Wright; 3 aunts, Valerie Patrick, Rachel Wright and Terry Wright (Aunt T); cousins and a dear friend considered to be his brothers and sister; Dakisha Britton, William Wright, Alphonso Peoples and Cleavon Smith; a host of cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
