Ja'Shawn Alexander Martin was born on June 30, 1999 to his loving parents, Felischra Ann Riggs and Jason Alexander Martin.

Ja'Shawn was welcomed into this world by his big brother Tramelle and big sister Monique, who quickly became his loyal protectors. Ja'Shawn was not a typical child, he was special, what some might call an old soul with knowledge and insight well beyond his years.

Ja'Shawn was a freshman at Withrow High School. He spent his elementary and middle school years at the Academy of World Languages (AWL) where he had many friends.

Ja'Shawn loved music and sports, especially football and basketball, spending hours on the court down the street from his Grandma GeeGee's house and he had skills. He played his X-Box game with the goal of topping his dad, his big brother or any challenger who came his way. Ja'Shawn was so excited he had just earned an allowance increase from his granddaddy James and was learning to drive from his granddaddy Junior.

Ja'Shawn had an extra special bond with his grandmothers (aka Team Grandma) who cannot imagine life without him. His most special relationship was with his dog, Snoop.

They grew up together and were much more than dog and master, Snoop was his confidante and protector.

Ja'Shawn touched everyone he met and made friends quickly. Ja'Shawn had very special friends, some of whom we don't know, Terron, Terrance, Stephan (Wink), Davon and Jabo; and very special cousins Jaiden (J-Rock) Riggs and William McCrary. A very special 'Mom' Simiko (Miko).

We apologize to anyone who was close to his heart and is not named here.

He leaves to mourn his passing: parents, Felischra Riggs and Jason Martin; grandparents, Sylvanie Riggs and James Davis, Joe Ann and Colean High (Detroit, MI), Norris Abernathy and Clifford 'Bo' (Pam) Gaither; siblings, Tramelle Riggs, Monique Smith, Amaya Sanders, Kendall Riley and Jadon Martin; great-grandparents, Jennie Davis, Lauretta Martin (Covington, KY), Minnie L. Berfield; nieces and nephews, Malaysia Criswell, Tramelle Riggs, Jr., Ra-Yon Dillingham, Je'Niyah Riggs, Carlee Dillingham, and Tramar Elliott; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends, especially his dog, Snoop.
