Donald Gentry Obituary

Donald Vincent Gentry, a cherished family man, esteemed drug counselor, and lifelong sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024, in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on May 29, 1954, to the late Robert Alexander and Gwendolyn Yvonne Gentry in Cincinnati, Donald's journey was marked by his unwavering dedication to his loved ones, his community, and the many lives he touched with his heartfelt guidance.

Donald's early years were spent in the nurturing environments of Holy Name Grade School and Wyoming High School, where he laid the foundation for a life of service and compassion. He carried these values throughout his life, dedicating his career to helping others as a drug counselor. His empathetic nature and tireless efforts provided a beacon of hope for countless individuals striving to reclaim their lives from addiction.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, John Gentry, Robert E. Gentry, Phillip Gentry, and sister, Karen Gentry-Lewis; grandson Jake and granddaughter Synceer.

A devoted husband, Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Andina Gentry, with whom he shared a deep and enduring partnership. Their love was a testament to commitment and mutual support, and together they raised two wonderful children, Braandi (Robert) Mays and Shea (Dershay) McClellan. His role as a father was one of Donald's greatest sources of pride, and he instilled in his children the importance of kindness, perseverance, and family unity.

Donald's joy was multiplied by the laughter and milestones of his grandchildren, Jermaine, Ro'Quasha, Shea, Dwayne, Essence, Kyng, and Carly, and his great-grandchildren, Roci, Rza, Eto, Kai, Aidan, and Rylee. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent in their company, celebrating their achievements and guiding them with gentle wisdom.

He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Barbara Gentry-Law, Dianna Gentry-Greene, John Gentry, and Joanne (Gary) Gentry-Wetrich, who will miss his jovial presence and steadfast support. Donald's extended family, including numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as a community of friends, will fondly recall his infectious enthusiasm for life and the genuine interest he took in the wellbeing of others.

Beyond his professional and family life, Donald was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and an all-around sports enthusiast. His passion for the game was paralleled only by his love for his family and his dogs, who were constant companions throughout his life. Whether cheering on his favorite team or playing catch in the yard, Donald embraced the joy and camaraderie of sports.

Donald's life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and resilience. He approached every day with a positive spirit and a heartfelt desire to make a difference in the world. His legacy of kindness, mentorship, and unwavering support will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to Donald Vincent Gentry, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. His memory will be a guiding light for all who carry his lessons and love forward. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains a comforting presence in the lives of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous heart.
