Obituary for Ulysses Godfrey

Ulysses Godfrey was born on December 5,1958 in Clinton, South Carolina to Addie and Robert Godfrey. He was preceded in death by Robert N. Godfrey, his father; Dorothy A. Gault, his oldest sister; Mildred E. Watson, his aunt; Robert Godfrey Jr., his oldest brother and Crenisha K. Godfrey, his niece.

He graduated from Robert A. Taft High School in 1977. After graduation he went to work in the steel industry. He was a valued, skillful and faithful worker who was employed by Byer Steel as a metal grader and processor for over thirty years.

Ulysses (Ula) always greeted you with a smile and a hug. He adored his mother, his "Honey" and spoiled his siblings, family and friends. He was loved by many and compassionate about helping others in any way he could. He would give you the shirt off of his back. Ulysses visited his family in Clinton, South Carolina whom he loved very much, two or three times a year. He spent his last vacation in Orlando, Florida with his sister Mattie, her children and a childhood friend. Spending time with loved ones was always important to Ulysses. Other things he enjoyed was fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling whenever he had time, as well as collecting vehicles and firearms. If one thing everyone knew about Ulysses is that he was always "Dressed to Impress," no matter the occasion. He was a stickler for style and he wore it well. And he loved his R & B music.

Ulysses is survived by his loving mother, Addie Godfrey; two sons, Ernest Anderson (Tasha) of Moore, S.C. and Brandon Godfrey; four sisters, Mary A. Brown, Mattie Carson, Mildred E. Godfrey, Irene Godfrey and a host of aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews, grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the Walker Funeral Home - West End, 930 Findlay Street, Cincinnati (45214). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
