Obituary for Shirley A. Duskin

Pastor Duskin was born April 24, 1945, to the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Glady’s William in Lexington, Kentucky. She leaves behind nine children, Glenn Watkins, Brenda Gray (Mark), Mitze Jones, Rodney Watkins, Tari Watkins (Elaine), Timothy Watkins (Sequoia), Tabitha Watkins, Saber Watkins (Lee) Felecia Watkins (Monica). A host of grandkids and great-grandkids. Sisters Nan Collins, Maggie White (Charles), Glady’s Hill and Gertrude Williams and brother Zakee Hasan Abdus.

Pastor Duskin was called to preach in 1979 and relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. That same year she met the late Assistant Pastor Elliot James Duskin. They were married on January 10, 1981, by the late Reverend Stevenson. She was a faithful member to True Holiness in Mount Auburn until god called her to Pastor in 1985. She then became the Pastor of “Occupy Till I Come House of Prayer for all People”, she pastored, did outreach ministry, feeding the homeless and ministering the word of God. In 1997 Pastor Duskin worked for Procter & Gamble as in inspector on the Crisco line.

She loved wording there with three of her daughters and two sons-in-law’s. Her baby daughter Felecia said, “mommy kelp us all on time, we all love working with mommy and she loved to inspect; we wanted to give her the lightest load. Mommy inspected and we unloaded the trucks.” The pastor then took care of the later Mr. Duskin until her own health no longer allowed her to. Later due to illnesses in 2012, she could no longer be the pastor. On Thursday, March 16, 2017, God called her home and said your work is done.

2nd Timothy 4: 6-8; 6. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
