Obituary for Mathew Ammon Shuirr

Mathew Ammon Shuirr, 44, shuffled off this mortal coil peacefully on Saturday April 14th in his home with family after battling Stage 4 Myxoid Liposarcoma for 2 years.

Born November 30th, 1973 to Andrew and Carolyn (Douglass) Shuirr. Mat was raised in Springfield Ohio, graduated from Northwestern High School, and gained a BFA from Miami University in Oxford. He pursued his career in technical theater in Louisville and Chicago before returning to Cincinnati to be closer to family.

Mat will be best remembered for his wit, sarcasm and passion for arguing a point not because he believed it, just to make you frustrated. When faced with an unimaginable diagnoses he attacked it head on and lived his remaining time with grace and optimism. A self labeled geek, he shared his passion for Star Wars, D&D, fantasy fiction novels, NASA, and countless other random things with whoever he could get to listen. He loved hiking, nature and the National Parks and worked hard to share all of this with his children. He was passionate, kind, not always thoughtful, but incredibly generous.

Mat is survived by his wife Jen Lampson and their children Marley and Kyle; parents Carolyn and Andy; mother in law Pat Lampson; Sisters Christi (Joe) Maiolo and Tiffany (Aaron) Burns; siblings in law Karen Lampson, Trish and Barry Campbell, Amanda Wright; Also, Aunts,Uncles, Grandparents, In Laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and countless friends.

Nothing about Mat was traditional so to acquiesce to his wishes there will be no formal funeral services. Instead Family and Friends are invited to gather and share memories on Saturday April 21st from 2 pm to 6pm at Boswell's on 1686 Blue Rock, Cincinnati Oh 45223. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations in Mats name to the Sarcoma Alliance (https://sarcomaalliance.org/get-involved/give/donate-now/)
